I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!

The best antihero character I've read so far. Go Adelina!

SPOILER

wow just wow Marie Lu is just phenomenal. I didn't think Adelina could get any darker but was I wrong. i love that you are seeing a villain in the making it is such a fresh and enticing idea. I read this in one seating I just could not put it down I was enthralled. The way Adelina views the world is so different then main characters in other YA books. It is so great watching Adelina grow in the exact opposite way of other main people and to push away everyone even her sister. To watch even Enzo want to kill her. The ending was just perfect "wait eagerly for the satisfaction and triumph to hit me. I wait, and wait, and wait. But it doesn't come." I can not wait for Midnight Star

4.5
This book was SO dark. Man, Marie Lu you really nailed it on this one. I think what was so intriguing about this book is that most other authors would write this more from the perspective of the Daggers and have Adelina be the villain. Reading this from her perspective was a serious trip. She's the perfect anti-hero and I'm so torn on what I want to happen in the final book!

5 stars!!

This book was really, really cool!
It was really unique, and dark, and suspenseful, and just amazing!
I love that we have an anti-hero perspective as our MC, and it's interesting to watch how she is tempted by power and fear, and hungers for it so much that she goes to extreme lengths to get what she wants. She starts to lose sight of who she is, and is blinded by vengeance. Though, she wasn't like that throughout the whole book. She was vulnerable at times, especially around
Spoiler Magiano and Enzo
.

I liked the new characters introduced, and it was nice to see Violetta's character grow throughout this book. I also like that this whole series (this book especially) makes you feel unsure whose side you should be on as a reader. Should I be on Adelina's side? Or should I root for Raffaele and the Daggers? Who is doing the right thing?

I also feel a little sorry for Teren. I still hate him, and I think he's a very bad person, but I felt bad for him when
Spoiler he was kinda blind by rage and slightly "hypnotised" by Adelina, and this caused him to kill the woman he loved. It was obvious that the Queen was always using him, but he was so blinded by his love that he didn't even notice or care. It's quite sad :(
I found it quite cruel of Adelina to cause him to be the one who killed the Queen. But then again, he's done awful things, so maybe he deserved it. I still felt a little bad though...

Okay, it took me weeks before finishing this because I just started my senior year in college and that means I barely have time to read *cries in 10 pages*

However, when I started reading again it sucked me into this dark world of Adelina's mind. Yes, I read the other reviews about the second book that was the climax of the story which it is especially the last chapters. I was amazed how I sympathize with her because I know she struggles to be good and to see good in others. She's a broken girl with destructive powers. I loved her when she took the throne it was badass. I love Adelina's dark thoughts because they sound real and frightening.

PS. I don't know why but I ship Raffaele and Enzo!!!!!

This is one of the darkest books I have ever read. Or it is the darkest book I ever read. But I liked it in a dark, sadistic kind of way. I don't know how that is. I have to say Adelina is really annoying me with her hunger for pain, the sadistic side of her. But this book was really good in the darkest way possible.

I was expecting this sequel after how the first one had ended. The death of Enzo really threw Adeline off the edge and now she is kind of driven by revenge and power and I’m not sure I like it.  She created her group but I feel like something is gonna happen in the last one, some of them are really shady. The daggers are nice but they are hypocrites. They don’t see that no one in this war is right. I don’t like them but I don’t think we’re supposed to.  The whole binding to Enzo is creepy and I can see all the problems it’s gonna bring in the last one. Rafael is a little bicth and I despise him so much, I want to slap him. In the end it was a good sequel and Marie did a great job.
