This is my favorite installment in the Red Rising series so far. A lot of my previous complaints are less glaring here—the female characters are treated less like sexual objects (though, ultimately, almost every one invariably finds themselves smitten with a man and swayed by whatever he wants), the core of the book felt a lot stronger, and the stylized narration didn’t grate on me this time around. Pierce Brown’s strength certainly lies in his ability to create a sweeping, epic battlefield, with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. I felt myself caring for the characters and their fates more than I had before, though I will admit some of the “twists” were unfortunately over-telegraphed. If you liked the last two installments, I see no reason why you wouldn’t enjoy this one!

I LOVE this series. This book had some particular plot twists in the final third of the book; just as I was starting to get tired. As though...the author knew!

In Morning Star, Darrow has to deal with the consequences of the war he has brought upon the Society. With the Solar System split between those that believe in the Rising, the neutrals and the loyals to the Sovereign, Darrow has to be the friend he never was, the lover he aimed to always be and the war machine he could never imagine to break the chains...whatever the cost.

This book is the best ending to the first Red Rising trilogy. Pierce Brown has grown so much as a writter, achieving peak performance in this instalment of the saga. The plot just flows naturally, followed by twists and turns that feel as overwhelming as rightfully earnes by the reader. I feel like one can no longer say, after this book, that Red Rising is like GoT or others alike. It is, now, its own thing. Other books and stories will resemble it, not the other way around.

Morning Star ends in a way that feels right, but leaves enough space to want more out of this world. I'm super excited to read the next trilogy. Until then, per aspera ad astra!

This book was a rollercoaster!
Pierce Brown holds my heart in his hands with this world he has build!
The character growth, the world building, everything! It's so impossibly hard to put this book down once you start, I've laughed and cried so much while reading this beautiful book and cannot wait to start the sequel trilogy and get my heart broken and rebuild again!

A wonderful cap on the series. Builds off the strengths of the earlier books, bringing the themes full circle to the impact of Eo's death (as well as Julian's). Excited to move on to the next series.
