4.05 AVERAGE

From the first chapter I found myself once again engrossed in this book. Loved getting to see inside Kaiden's head! Can't wait to read more by Wendy Higgins

This book was so so so good. This series has been one of my favorites and I'm so sad that it's over. This book really brought it all together. Kai is the sweetest, hottest, and funniest fictional character. In this book, we see so much more to him than what we see from Anna's POV. It really brought a lot to the book. I'm very jealous of Anna being married to a guy like Kai ugh! I'm forever in love with this book & series. I recommend it to everyone!!!

In order to truly enjoy this book, you you have first read all 3 books, Sweet Evil, Sweet Peril, and Sweet Reckoning.

This fourth book is a compilation of Kaidan Rowe's point of view in the entire trilogy. It is comprised of snippets in action and the internal monologue from when Kaiden met Anna to the very end when Kaiden, Anna and the other nephilim are redeemed.
Kaiden is the son of Pharzuph, the Duke of Lust:

His task is to seduce as many girls as he can possibly ruin. His punishment for failing to leave a trail of deflowered girls is death. His job is a pleasurable one until one day he meets Anna Whitt.
Anna is the daughter of Bilal, the Duke of Substance Abuse

We are treated to Kaiden's first impression of Anna, their inner battle against their dark heritage and their heartbreaking struggle to perform their "duties" or risk incurring the Duke's suspicion of non-compliance. The first three books were from Anna's perspective and it had a wholesome quality to it as Anna was a good southern girl. Kaiden's book was much dark because he was full of suspicion, resentment and lacked hope of anything good ever happening to him. Until he saw Anna's aura and it caused a dramatic shift in his view of his future. He never gave love a second thought until he felt her love for him and he couldn't turn away from that warmth.

I will say that there wasn't really new material here. I felt like I had a good sense of the stress that Kai endured at the hand of his father. I also felt like I got a good sense of what it was costing Kai to choose to protect Anna by pushing her away. This book was more of a summarization of all the events that transpired from Kaiden's perspective.

I finally got around to reading this book after having it for way too long, I definitely got it right when it came out so oops. I didn’t expect too much from this book but I thought that it would be fun to read anyways since I did read the entire trilogy as it came out. This book isn’t really the fourth in the series, it’s a companion novel that tells the entire story but from the point of view of the love interest, Kaidan Rowe. I thought that this was a really fun way to get a different perspective on the series and to get a few extra scenes since there’s obviously things that the original main character didn’t see happen.

I liked getting Kaidan’s point of view on a lot of the things that happened, because him and Anna obviously had very different thoughts on a lot of things that occurred throughout the series. With that being said it’s not really a life changing book, the characters are somewhat one dimensional and obnoxious, but I knew that they were like that going in so I can’t really say that it’s a bad thing. It was nostalgic reading the entire series in one book, because I still remember how excited I was when the first book came out and I loved it.

Overall this is a perfectly average book, if you’re someone that read the original trilogy and wants to check this out then I’d go for it, but it’s also definitely not necessary. Also if you read them a while ago like me then maybe pass on this one, I knew the characters were annoying but this one feels even worse. So deal with that if you like but you could really take or leave this story.

The book itself was not a bad book, but I am not one for re-reading any book that wasn't drop-dead amazing (I liked the Sweet Trilogy, but it didn't blow my mind). And although this wasn't exactly re-reading the whole trilogy, it did re-hash all the major plot points and even from a different perspective it got slightly dull. There wasn't many scenes in the book that were 'new'. We had already experienced them or heard about them from Anna's POV. Kaiden's thoughts and feelings were on-par with what I thought they would be... nothing ground-breaking here.

It's so nice getting back into this series. I love getting into Kaidan's head.

Amazballs!!!!! I loved being in Kai's head! He was so tortured, so broken. His growth was so much more evident and clear in this book. You can't help but fall in love with him all over again and gain a girl crush on Anna. The ending sent me over the edge and hit me in the heart. Loved this book and series so so much!

definitely loved to read pieces of the story from Kaidan's POV but so much self loathing can get a bit tiresome
