60% of this book I absolutely devoured, it was suspenseful and I couldn’t put it down, I just wanted more, which I think is why I ultimately gave it three stars. The “twist” was absolutely horrendous, I actually laughed out loud at how left field it was. I did predict a few of the minor twists, which I was fine with because up until the big twist the writing was just that good that I didn’t care. But the big twist pissed me off. There was absolutely nothing hinting in Sager’s writing to determine the big twist which tells me that Sager truly just pulled it from his ass.

Another thing that irritated me was there were so many plot holes. I literally had to go back a few times to previous chapters to make sure that I wasn’t going crazy… verdict is that I’m not going crazy the plot holes were right freaking there, I’m almost surprised that none of Sager’s editors found these plot holes.

I will say, though even after the big dumb twist, I was still very interested in what would happen next, so I think that says something about Sager’s writing. I do, however, wish that the last twist was flushed out more than just one chapter. I felt like I definitely could’ve used more of that plot, especially since the entire book was based on that story…..

All in all, if you want a fun thriller, I do recommend this book, if you don’t mind plot holes and a dumb twist that makes no sense.

i don’t know how to feel about this one, it was good but the main twist kind of irritated me. though it was kind of recoverable, i’m still on the fence about how i feel

My favorite and by the far the best Sager thriller! There were several times I was SURE I knew how this book was going to end. And each time, I was thrown through a loop and was completely off. This book has a great build of suspense and turns. It keeps you on your toes, and you won’t be able to put it down. I found the characters interesting and well-developed. Overall, this is a must-read for thriller lovers.

I like that this book kept my interest, but the weird turns it took. I didn’t really enjoy.
