Many terrible  events occur within this plot of land.  The author has an excellent command of language ate once changing the voice of the prose to match the narration.

Oh my gods, I just love this so much. Absolutely amazing. No words. I think my brain is broken.

I loved how this book pulls you in and doesn't let go. Told in short bursts of interconnected, story song and poetry, every chapter is a bit different but and though each section is about a human (or insect or small mammel) it's ultimately about the land and the house and the memories they hold. Just wonderful writing and story. I'll be back at some point for a reread.

Best book I've read in a long, long time. Daniel Mason weaves his stories together with a long view, and his mastery of voice and prose is spellbinding. There is such a sense of place in this book too. Highly recommended
