Other possible content warnings: age gap relationship, minor stalking depictions (incessant phone calls & showing up unannounced/uninvited), some minor dominance play during sex, and a third party catching a couple during sex. *** Light, fun erotica with just enough character depth and development to keep things interesting. All conflicts are resolved rather quickly and easily, but that’s the nature of this type of romantic fantasy. I didn’t expect the arc about country music and songwriting. Not a turn off, just a surprise based on the “pool boy” premise.shaykay's review

We have a more significant emphasis on cheating this time around since Erika had been married to her husband for a long time when she walked in on him with another man! She does end up outing them to the other man's wife, and Erika's husband does try to take some revenge on her by making the divorce very hard. However, we don't go through the divorce with them. We do a time jump, 10 months, and by the time the book picks back up, the divorce has been finalized, and she got to keep the house. But that finalization didn't stop the ex-husband from being a nuisance. He just keeps calling her repeatedly even though she never answers. Eventually, he shows up at the house and catches her with Troy. I wish it was a little bit more explosive since he was one of the villains of this story. The other big drama issue in this one is Erika's best friend just so happens to be Troy's own mother! It got very messy! I hate how she treats Troy the whole book.
As for Troy and Erika, I really liked them together, but it kind of felt like maybe he was just going to end up being a rebound for her. They do talk about it sometimes in the book. I think they realize that they are more than just a rebound and a childhood crush, but I loved that he's always had a huge crush on her, and it was just cute how they came together. I can't wait to see where the next book goes. I really hope we get to know where these two are in the later books because it sounds like Troy will end up making it big, and I hope they stay together.

These 2 characters are both freaks in the sheets! Also love when the characters get verbal consent before sex, and check in with their partners during new sexual acts. Overall this was a super fun and quick read!
It's set in Nashville and music plays a big part in the plot, I'd definitely recommend it to any country music fans!
My only critique is the use of "clean" as a term for not having STIs/STDs.

The first Nashville-book had a plot-what-plot vibe. But "The Poolboy" was very different and I loved the story!
The writing is great as always 😏
