This was a really interesting memoir. It's told in fragments and it took little while to get used to the blunt, chaotic writing style but after that I found it pretty easy to get through. Most of the book focuses on Alyokhina's time in prison so it's grim but also often darkly funny. It really highlights her resilience and her courage in campaigning for political freedom and prison reforms and I'm glad I know more about her story now.
Graphic: Police brutality
Moderate: Confinement, Religious bigotry, and Sexual assault
