Creo que lo que más me gustó de este thriller, y lo que considero lo hace más efectivo, es que cuenta una historia con las cosas que dice, y simultáneamente se va contando una historia igualmente inquietante con las cosas que no se dicen.

Algo que me incomoda de este tipo de historias es que aunque mi cerebro nota y recuerda toda clase de detalles sin necesariamente estar buscando pistas a propósito, no me gusta estar armando teorías ni especular. Me estresa. Sin embargo, no es como que pueda parar mi mente de tener "corazonadas" y detectar elementos clave de una historia bien escrita. Al final, me estreso de todas formas en maneras que son naturales en los thrillers pero no disfruto tanto como otros tipos de literatura emocionante.

Aunque supongo que es algo que la gente que realmente ama los thrillers aprecia de ellos, en mi caso se convierte en una incomodidad adicional que me hace experimentarlos y recordarlos muy vividamente (o dejarlos a medio leer indefinidamente), pero en este caso en particular fue bastante efectivo para el mood. Aún así, lo leí mas lento y con mas pausas de las que normalmente me toma leer, ya que me abrumaba un poco (de nuevo, de manera efectiva).

What an unpleasantly claustrophobic little horror book this was! So simple in plot, but so effective. Sure, horror can be cinematic and ridiculous, with monsters beyond the scope of human imagining or questions of good and evil on a titanic scale ... but a premise like this, where you're simply trapped in your own body, in your own house and your own bed, and at the mercy of someone who may wish you ill, is just as terrifying.

After originally dnf-ing this book a while back, I decided to pick this back up via audiobook when I had some time at work the other day. I think that this presents a very interesting character study, but unfortunately, I don't think I completely "got it".
I also was a bit put out with the level of horror. For a book that's described as "tense" and "gripping", I didn't really see that in the actual novel. This is probably due to my Westernized expectations of the horror genre, but I really was hoping for something more. There certainly are creepy and horrific aspects within the story, I just wanted them to be pushed further.
I think if I was to fully understand this I'd need to reread it

TW: there were a lot of ableism actions and dialogue within this book. Also, death of a loved one, emotional abuse, confinement/captivity, infidelity, and suicidal thoughts
