The book is very information heavy, but considering that it’s about data journalism it is understandable. But it made it more textbook like. I hoped there was a balance between the text and data.

Never have I come across a book about India that's given me so much info backed with Data (Or shows the lack of)

I've heard data is the new oil a thousand times in my "corporate life" but never stopped to question the legitimacy of data thats being used (I wish it is) to make decisions about my own country. Eye-opening and insightful!

Thanks for writing this!

We live in a world where narratives are created for political interests while narratives and numbers don't always correlate and that is the recurring theme of the book. Rukmini S sheds much-needed light on the complex realities of India as seen through its data, exposes shortcomings of the state when it comes to implementing data-driven policies, and raises grave concerns about the Indian states' practice of suppressing public survey data when it doesn't show favorable outcomes and the disappearing autonomy of the state's statistical machinery.
