I really like message of the book and the tips for dealing with inner chatter.
Our inner voice allows for introspection, but too much introspection leads to chatter. We all talk to ourselves and it's been in us since our existence. Our inner voice allows for us to reflect on the past and plan for the future. Our inner voice helps us shape our identity. When there is too much chatter, our brain slows down considerably. Chronic chatter can cause us health issues. Temporal distancing helps to ease stress because it helps put things in perspective. Using distance name such as using your name rather than "I" helps you to relax. Exposure to green space or nature helps us reduce chatter. If we believe something will make us feel better then it will.
EXCELLENT book on how "chatter," our inner dialogue, can be a force for both good and evil, and how when we become too entrenched in our own self-talk, it can have negative consequences. Ethan Kross's writing style is simple and conversational without talking down to the reader while explaining the psychology behind chatter. The book also outlines a number of techniques to use to reroute chatter, though I wish the actual "toolkit" was a part of the book itself rather than just an appendix. Overall, a great read for anyone who struggles with anxiety or tends to frequently turn inward and become consumed by their own thoughts (which we all do sometimes). Kross has a unique, well-researched perspective on this topic.

A unique collection of advice for a more productive relationship with the self through tactical behaviors.
These include seeing self from 3rd person perspective, mentaln time travel( think about how you feel in a month), organize your env, perform a ritual, minimize passive social media usage and focus on active (posting, reaching out), green spaces, awe inspiring experiences.

A nice book about the chatter in your head and ways to deal with it. Full of interesting anecdotes and techniques to quell the voices.

Great book for both adults and teens to read about how we talk to ourselves.
A much needed/timely read for my chatter filled brain!
I’m gonna give this book 5 stars. It’s concise and full of strategies for helping ourselves and others deal with the negative voices in our heads. I appreciate that there’s an appendix with all the strategies back to back for easy reference.
