I picked this up as I was interested in the meta of it all, as the fictional main character here was created as a fictional character in the Clifton Chronicles when the main character there becomes an author of pulp fiction starring William Warwick. Clear?
This wasn't terrible. Just very middling. Had many of the usual Archer flourishes. But it wasn't a story that I could not wait to get back to. Most of the twists and turns were pretty predictable. When the story was done, I did not pick up the second entry in this series, and likely won't.

I keep trying Jeffrey Archer novels and am going to throw in the towel with this one. Cardboard characters, dull, simplistic writing--how does this guy win so many readers? I was bored early in and stopped there. There's too much good stuff out there to bother with this.
