I'm marking this as has spoilers so that less people read my review and I'm only writing one bc then I can see my thoughts on it in the future but I'm telling you now this isn't a good review, don't read my review.

Idk if I'm a good judge for this book... The whole book I found myself uninterested and distracted. I skimmed like 3 chapters and then was able to start reading 76% and on I liked, I could finally see a plot, and it was good! I really wanted to like this book more than I did. Queer Black girls who are into astrology? Like say less, I really wanted to be into it but I just couldn't and I wish I could explain it. I think it was just bc there wasn't enough plot for me? This book makes me confused over why I couldn't get into it. I wanted to give up and leave it unfinished but I couldn't bring myself to leave it. I wish I had the audio book I could a finished it faster and maybe not have skipped those 3 chapters. Anyways yeah, I only like the ending. It was sweet and made me cry 76% and on.

This was so wonderfully beautiful. It broke my heart so gently and with such tenderness.

Loved this YA novel - young black lesbian love story that looks at issues of home, ancestors, family prisoner justice, death/life, magic, the stars.
I will definitely read this again.

PHENOMENAL book. The writing style is unique and the integration of magic is just what it is -- not a main focal point but an integral part of the world of the book. It focuses on young queer Black women, and it goes so far past romance into culture and the prison industrial system and what it means to live. Love it ever so, and would recommend to absolutely anybody, especially queer folks!
