The first half of the book was fairly good. The second half was not. It wasn’t just long, it was long-winded. I only got through it because I listened to it in audiobook and only half-listened to the sections that were long pontifications.

Genuinely phenomenal. I’m in awe, and in pain, in the most life-ridden way.

Boring. Tried the interconnected stories narrative, I struggled to see the connection between the stories other than the people came in contact with trees…… some good lines of prose but honestly not worth my time. There are too many good books and this is not one of them.

I have such mixed feelings about this book. I did not realize the structure, so spent the first section not realizing it was setting the foundation for the second part- I just thought it was a series of short stories. Once I caught on to the structure, I was overthinking how it would come together, and for a few storylines I was still left wondering even having finished the book. Still, some vivid imagery and points of view well worth reflection.

This was a long one but a good one. The book is strategically organized in a way that doesn’t necessarily make sense to the reader at first. Seemingly unrelated characters are introduced thoroughly and then begin to cross paths in numerous ways over the course of the book.

Even if this book is fiction, the message about the importance of plants, trees, and nature is shared loud and clear. This book is full of inspiration, desperation, life, love, heartbreak, betrayal, and joy! I’d recommend!
