So, I set this book aside right after it won the Pulitzer because it just didn’t grab me at the time. Well, I’m so glad j decided to give it another go! Totally worthy of the accolades!

DID NOT FINISH

The prose is beautiful but I find myself skimming over it to get to the action of the story. I feel like I'm not doing the writing justice so I'll try it again at a later date

Really great writing, very impressive feat of literature overall. I really liked the introduction of each character and everything with Mimas, but by the end I felt more invested in some plot lines than others. There was so much going on that sometimes I lost interest in different characters, or minor characters in the lives of main ones, and was ready move more quickly through whatever thoughts about trees they had in that moment. That said I did really appreciate how trees connected everything and felt very spurred to action by the climate protests.

Book became to broad to appreciate the connection of characters.
Beautiful prose that later lost plot for the sake of, idk, beauty…

Someone saw me reading this while sitting at a bar and asked me what it was about. Even thought I was a little over halfway through, I had to answer that I was not sure. And it's true, I guess- I didn't really know what was going on but I loved it anyway.  That's how good the writing is and how compelling is the narrative. I loved everything about this book.

This was so vast and sweeping and gorgeous. I can’t stop admiring the trees around me. I love books that tilt your worldview slightly, and this one has. Its lessons will stay with me for a long time.
