First October Halloween read of the year! I decided to read this book, because it's shorter than a lot of the other Stephen King books. Having many other reads as well, it seemed like a nice read beside the others.

The movie of this book is one I haven't seen yet, since I don't watch horror movies since I find them too scary. For some reason I do like to read horror books. Stephen King writes so lively, that I feel completely engrossed into his books when I read them. When you can write a book that makes you scared, you do have an immense gift as a writer.

The thought about being stuck in this mist is terrifying. Just the thought makes me shiver, and next time their will be mist where I live I will think completely different about it. The things in the mist sounded terrifying, and truly nightmare material.

Still after finishing this book, I have so many questions. What and why? Also, the ending couldn't be more open than this. I can't stand it.

One of my favorite horror stories.  A great campfire read!

Meh. I like the premise, but king’s writing is just not for me. Also felt really weird and unnecessary to have an affair in the middle of everything 💀

Just a really, really great book. This is my first ever Stephen King novel, and I understand now why he’s been so successful with his stories. His imagery is just fantastic, simple yet evocative, and the way he threads events together makes you want to keep going.

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the narrator upon first listen, but his voice quickly grew on me. He has a great diversity of voices for the characters, even when the differences are a bit more subtle.

I watched the movie several years back, and while I enjoyed it, I think I ended up liking the book better. That’s always how it goes, isn’t it?

Now that I have a taste of what King is like, I’m really excited to start looking into his other works. Time to start expanding my TBR…

Maybe it's because I've watched The Mist's movie adaptation, but the book feels boring. It has some interesting dynamics, but in general it's kind of boring. You could replace the main character with a rock and there wouldn't be a difference.

Stephen King really can’t write women or write *for* women for that matter.
