4.5 stars.
I've had this book on my tbr for ages. And I'm so glad I finally got to it.
I loved the characters, especially Brute. And the romance.
I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

What a gem
Very heartfelt story about inner beauty, humility, kindness, sacrifice, consequences
Beauty and the beast re-telling
Fairytale feel to it.
Gray, beautiful, blind with a stutter and in prisoned due to youthful mistakes of large consequences.
Aric, gentle giant, bullied, shunned and loveless.
Two man who haven't felt affection or love for most of their lives.
Two man shunned by society.
Two man who judge each other on who they are rather than how they're perceived by society.

Aric is definitely the star of this story. A man who had nothing, who gained so much and sacrificed it all in the name of love.

Really lovely. Beautiful message.
Highly recommend to the few left who haven't read this!

I love this book!
What a greatly told tale of heart, strength of character, perseverance, and love. I would sorta classify it as a hurt/comfort tale, except it has none of the... mushy sadness that most H/Cs have. Instead, it has the steady Brute and the persevering Grey.
The story builds slowly, which is really well-done. This isn't an exciting adventure, and though there is magic, it isn't a tale of magic and mayhem. It's about so much more.
Technically, this book is written perfectly, with no typos, which is always such a pleasant gift. It starts already making me want to know more about Brute. It builds beautifully, with no insta-love or even insta-fixing of injustices. It develops naturally, fluidly, and, most importantly, believably.
Grey is as great a character as Brute. The reader must wait to find out more about him, but what we do find out, is sad but heartening. Both characters are damaged, both physically and emotionally, but they are real and strong and I just love them.
I highly recommend this book. Highly!

This book features a truly unique and lovely main character. I have never read a perspective quite like Brute's, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The romance is light-hearted and sweet no matter their situation, but does not skip on the painful moments, though the dark moments are not overly dark and are followed by lighter comfort scenes. I adored the relationship between Brute and Gray, and definitely class this as one of my favorite books!

That was good. Sweet characters. Adventure. A big, maimed, brute of a man who is just the most gentle soul.

*sigh*

I love the simplicity, if you want to call it that, of this book. I love the characters and wish there was more.

Oh my god, this book was SO GOOD. I absolutely adored Aric and Gray. They were such sweethearts, especially my gentle giant. Loved this story, loved the characters and I wish there was more.

It dropped from 4 stars to 3 during the third act lull.
