Not my favourite TJ Kline. The story was fun, but not really up my alley. And holy crap did it even not expect the intensely graphic sex scene. That was raunchy in the worst way. Thankfully there was only one.
Don’t expect it to be like House in the Cerulean Sea or Under the Whispering Door because it’s not. It’s a high action book about aliens with that uncomfortable sex scene that felt like it was written by a teenaged boy.
And the banter. I didn’t like that either. It’s almost like TJ forgot how to write. I just felt like I was reading something written by someone who wished they were an author but hadn’t yet honed their skills the whole way through it.
I’m rambling. But I just finished reading 400 pages of rambling, so forgive me!

4.5 - this one was different from what I typically read in the fantasy genre so it took a while for me to get into to, but man am I glad I stuck with it!! while I wasn’t a huge fan of the action scenes (very well written and kept me on the edge of my seat - just not my cup of tea), I had a wonderful time with the main characters, especially a certain young girl with an affinity for bacon. I might just need to read everything TJ Kline writes…
