This is a really odd book. When Triona Hallett is murdered, her sister Nora Gavin is certain that her brother-in-law Peter Hallett is responsible. After three years of trying to tie Peter to the murder, Nora leaves America and goes to Ireland. Another two years pass and Nora returns to the states to continue finding clues to prove Triona's murderer is Peter. Frank Cordova, the policeman that believed Peter did murder Triona had never quit trying to get more evidence in her murder. Nora tries to warn Peter's bride to be about his violence against Triona, but Miranda will not hear of it. Elizabeth, Peter and Triona's daughter, was to stay with Nora's mother and father while Peter and Miranda go abroad after they are married. Nora is in a real panic when Elizabeth is taken on the trip and then runs away. There are many twists and turns in this book, 4 other murders and a 100 year old disappearance of an Irish woman that keep one guessing. Also running throughout the book is a fascination with seals and selkies. Is it possible that seals shed their skin and become human? Or is it a myth? See what you think after this book!
