Renaissance, Italy, so beautiful and yet so harsh !
For a historical novel, it was really suspenseful, even if I had an idea of how it was going to end.
Maggie O'Farrell writes so beautifully ! I fell in love with her reading Hamnet, now I'm trying to read everything she has written so far. Lucrezia was such a wonderful character, with such depth ; and Alfonso was at first so hard to pin down ; the surrounding characters were well imagined. It was so easy to feel Lucrezia's love for painting.
It's a complex and engrossing novel.
