There is so much happening in this story and I love it. We have a world that previously lived with a civilization that was more advanced than anyone else. This civilization was destroyed in a moment that left our FMC with trauma and led to her pursuing a life that seems more mundane in comparison. There’s a lot of hints to this fantasy and magical-like civilization without spending much time there.

A lot more of the story revolves around Inira’s new life and what happens when someone related to that previous life finds her and may have ulterior motives. There’s romance, betrayal, fate and fantasy elements all strewn together in modern times.

The story focus of rebirth from trauma and the power of love and healing is very moving. The FMC is a very powerful character and one who seems to be very in tune with who she is after going through a long grieving process and working on recovering from her trauma. I love that despite this she is still very human, struggling with alcoholism and trying to process her daily life.

I read through this whole story in a day. I couldn’t put it down and loved every minute of this. It was a thrilling ride from start to finish.

Thank you to Book of Matches Media and the author for the ARC. These are my honest thoughts about the book.

Thank you Amy for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book! I loved every second! While it took me longer to read than the average book, I wholeheartedly believe it's because of how much I wanted to SAVOR the book.

The characters were perfectly written, and each of them a little morally grey, which is so fun. The growth and personal development of them was beautifully written. You can tell that Amy put a lot of thought into their transformational journey as well.

This book is perfectly set up to have a sequel and a pre-quel to it, and honestly, I hope it does. The way it was written, it almost felt real and I caught myself asking if something like the religion and beliefs actually existed.

The book takes place in today's world, but has so many beautiful pieces of magic, fantasy, love, and forgiveness woven throughout.

One of my top reads of the year for sure!
