Pros: Plot was soooo good, even better than the first book. Loved the new characters. This series is getting me out of my comfort zone and making historical fiction seem less scary.
Con: This book is too long. Like so long that I honestly forgot what happened in the beginning by the time I finished it.
I don't know if I'll ever get around to picking up the third book. Mostly because I don't usually like series endings, but also because it feels like it will also be too long.

Second in the steampunk-meets-gothic-meets-Holmes-meets-nascent-feminism series, this is a LONG! book--even with the larger type and wider margins of a quick read, it's still 700 pages. The series is fun for what it is: the living legacies of monstrous experiments conducted by mad scientists upon their daughters (or created to be daughters) who band together to solve mysteries and stop nefarious power-grabbing scientists from achieving eternal life, creating half-magical-animal minion armies, and inflicting more psychological harm upon women.
