I first read this back in 2014 and gave it 5 stars, but I couldn’t remember it so I decided to read it again and I’m happy to say it’s still a 5 star read!
Jojo Moyes knows how to pull at the heart strings and One Plus One does just that. All of the characters are so well rounded and fit together perfectly. They are flawed, but their flaws only add to their charm.
This is a love story of a family and will make the awkward child that lives inside all of us feel seen and accepted.

This was a nice lighthearted read. I enjoyed it the same way I enjoy a romantic comedy film; somewhat predictable yet still satisfying and entertaining. The author has a professional writing style, which in my opinion sets this book apart from many other romance novels.

Cheguei à conclusão que não posso ler Jojo Moyes com qualquer disposição. Se precisar de algo leve, alegre ou estiver com pouca paciência, não posso ler livros dela. Dos poucos livros que li da autora, vejo que ela tem tendência para personagens com muitos problemas, por vezes demasiado ingénuas ou crédulas para serem enganadas facilmente e/ou vezes sem conta e primeiro que se veja a luz ao fundo do túnel é preciso uma longa jornada. Um Mais Um - A Fórmula da Felicidade parece uma longa viagem cujo fim que vai salvar toda a família - e acabamos por estar sempre focados nesse fim, não dando muito valor à viagem e quando lá chegamos não é o que parece. E acabámos por não dar muito valor à viagem que até traz bons momentos e novas oportunidades. Mas a história acaba por só se tornar interessante no último terço do livro, após a longa viagem, e os acontecimentos tristes e aqueles que trazem mudanças acabam por se suceder numa catapulta e quando damos por ela, FIM. Não sou fã desse tipo de ritmo de história, nem de histórias tristes que só trazem momentos alegres no final. Não sou fã na maioria dos dias. Por isso, vou repensar bem antes de voltar a pegar num livro da Jojo Moyes, à excepção, claro, daquele que já tenho em casa mas que só vou pegar estando muito bem disposta, ainda assim.
I didn't really finish the book. I just flew through it. I stopped reading at page 100, just wasn't my thing.
