I enjoyed this book overall. At times, I felt like their trip went on a bit too much. However, the overall story, characters, and themes were wonderful.

I really have enjoyed other works by Jojo Moyes. This one was good, but not my favorite. For about 75% of the book, I felt like I was sinking, by the sheer amount of bad things happening to these characters. Just when I felt it couldn't get worse - it did - a couple of times. I don't want to ruin anything with spoilers in my review, so I will just say I was pleased in the end with how Moyes drew the pieces together, and all in all the book gave me some real hope in humanity - but it was a long, difficult path, all while cooped up with these characters in a car - literally.

I didn't expect something exceptional on that novel though i have to admit Jojo Moyes's writing gives us something that we can't detach from it. This book was entertaining, funny, with some quotes i can't forget. Even if the ending was predictable from the beginning i felt like i was travelling with the characters, learning them, living with them and that's what i needed : a book that makes me escaping from reality with however that reality who catch us at some parts. The characters have their qualities, their defaults and they're not perfect, they're just like you and me.

While listening to this book, I couldn't get the thought of the film "Little Miss Sunshine" out of my head: a road trip with family, the rush to get a young girl to an event, and all the mishaps along the way. The added bonus to this book was the relationships that developed along the way. I loved these characters and their flaws. Excellent read!
