What a warm-and-fuzzy yet real tale Moyes has woven of a single mom named Jess who struggles to do what's best but is never quite able to get ahead. Jess, her daughter Tanzie, and her step-son Nick find themselves in need of getting to Scotland, so in steps Ed, an executive about to be tried for insider trading. Jess cleans his home and keeps having random run-ins with him. When he's already headed that way, he offers them a ride. What ensues is an absolutely hilarious, heart-wrenching road trip for the ages. This is a perfect example of flawed characters you should probably hate at times but can't help but connect with and love. I'm walking away from this one thinking of it as elevated chick lit - written at a higher level than most in the genre, like the homemade mac and cheese instead of the stuff out of the box.
Nice easy pleasant read. I like how the chapters were on each character

This book was a sweet book about family, romance and surviving hardship. The two main characters were very different from each other but the contrast was interesting. One is a single mum, struggling to get by and working two jobs. I think she was relatable to a lot of people, she did her best but was it ever enough? Her kids are also a little weird so she has to deal with bullying and the fact her daughter is super good at maths and gets offered a place at a fancy school that is not affordable. The other is a rich business man being investigated for insider trading. They meet and the story is basically them falling in love, while overcoming their differences. Its funny, its relatable and its really sweet. Not my kind of book but it was something light and easy to read. Jojo Moyes books are so easy to read, she is a good writer!
Enjoyed this book. Life just kept knocking Jess down but her bright outlook made you come back for more.
this book was great. You experience every emotion as you read. It reminded me of pay to forward with a happy ending.
Simple story line with great life lessons on top of a beautiful love story! Could not put this book down...
