Lets start at the beginning where boy meets girl and after having a whole day of life-changing conversations, they plan to meet one year later. Except he never shows. So why is he here, at the resort Fer just inherited after her mother’s sudden accident and death?
Second chance romance, that’s why.
But it’s also so much more than that. It was about growing up, changing, how to come to terms with those changes, and allowing ourselves to grow. It was about family and expectations - both those we place on ourselves and others do. It was about being honest with yourself, even if it’s only after someone else forces you to do it.
Was it my favorite romance book? No, but I enjoyed it enough. It’s a bit heavy and would be a great movie but just didn’t hit the spot. I’ll still read more by the author, but this story line just didn’t have the same romantic spark I was looking for.

I didn’t love this as much as her other two about Barry’s Bay but still felt immerse in life at the lake and in Toronto. It also felt like it had some more depth about personal growth and familial love than you might see in a straight forward romance.
