I loved reading these mini biographies with my kids! (Would recommend for age 6+ just due to length of words per page; the board book version is a great option for younger readers!)
The wide range of time periods do a great job of demonstrating that Black women were/are influencers at every period of American history (and across all facets of American life), and it was really fun to use the supplemental resources provided at the end of the book to make the women jump off the page in experiential ways.
The illustrations are gorgeous and exactly what you’d expect from a Caldecott Medal-winning artist (though this book did not earn her the award).
