*incoherent babbling* Again, I am lost for words! This series has me completely and utterly hooked. Seriously. Everything about it has completely blown me away! As with Ancillary Justice, I got just as caught up in this world and the characters. There is a beautiful intensity to the story and it's characters which I get completely lost in. I can't wait to read the third in the trilogy!

Maybe three stars is too harsh, but this was a letdown after Ancillary Justice, which was absolutely brilliant. If it wasn't a sequel to that, I'd say it was decent SF with some interesting characters and world building. But all of the characters here were either good or bad, with none of the heartbreaking ambiguity of the first book. And with everything set in one time period, we're told what Breq has lost, but never shown it.

I assume the problem is that Leckie spent years working on Ancillary Justice, and then when it was a huge hit, her publisher asked how fast she could come out with the sequel.

Another fun page turner! Checks most of the same boxes as the original. Cool ideas, intrigue, some semi moral catharsis, etc.
