Life is not always what you hope for; at least that is what Savannah keeps telling herself in order to make peace with the past. She has spent years hiding and running by working her tail off and the day of your ex-husbands wedding it no different. What she did not expect is that speeding even a few over would get her pulled over.
Adam Grove’s sheriffs Scott Calvin once again has decided that bachelorhood was a lot better than continuing to end up with the wrong person. When we pull over Savannah Dey he just wanted he to be on her way and he was taken back by her choose to stick around for the parade.
This book was a fun read it did have some serious moments but over all I loved the characters in the small town. I have not read anything by Nancy Naigle before I can say that the storyline did not disappoint at all. The did have a few slow parts but they were quick and didn’t really take from the story overall. If you are looking for a fun read with a lot of fun characters with lots of personality then this book is so worth the read, either way this book is worth the buy.

Received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Let me be clear, there was nothing wrong with this book. The writing was good, the story was cute, it was just very wholesome and a little too down home family values for my liking. If you're into that, you will probably really like this book. There was a mystery aspect to it that I liked and was really into but overall, not my cup of tea.

Barbecue and Bad News by Nancy Naigle is a 2015 Montlake publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This 6th installment in the Adams Grove series starts off with a magical quality to it. Even if you have not read the other books in the series, ( and of course you will want to do that), you can read this one as a stand alone. I promise you will fall in love with Adams Grove, the quintessential small town you will never want to leave.

Savannah Dey was headed to her ex-husband's wedding, driving from DC to the small town where she grew up, dreading it every mile of the way. To put the cherry on the cake, she gets pulled over in Adam's Grove for going seven miles over the speed limit, then finds herself stuck there for a while. While this development was very frustrating, it could be just what Savannah needs to put the past behind her once and for all and look forward to a new future with a clean slate.

The sheriff of Adams Grove Scott Calvin, can't believe the woman he pulled over has decided to extend her visit for a while and not only that, for some reason she gets under his skin in a big way. Sparks fly between the two causing the author and writer in Savannah to use her skill to exact revenge.

“Writers don't get mad, they get even.” 'So she couldn't kill him off in a novel, but she sure did just fry his butt in that article.... even if he'd never know it. Payback. Karma. Call it what you like, but that cranky sheriff just got his dose.'

While working on her new assignment, Savannah grows really close to the residents of Adams Grove which leads her to start wondering about a crime that many were trying to put behind them. But, was it really over? Were there a few loose ends to be tied up? Can Savannah convince Scott to look into it?

This is a charming story with a little mystery, a sweet romance and a lot of depth to it. Savannah carries around some heavy luggage and had never really dealt with her past. In Adams Grove she will meet some very special people and will begin to see she will have to face the past in order to have any hope of a happy future.

Despite the handsome Scott Calvin's issues with city girls, he could also change her mind about getting involved in another relationship, but, well, first she will have to deal with all that payback and karma she stirred up.

If you are in the mood for a sweet, light, contemporary heartwarming romance, this book has your name on it! 4 stars
