A beautiful and magic book about a brother (a robot) and a sister (a log)!

I was searching for something magical. For a picture book. And I bumped into this one. About a little robot prince and his sister the log princess. I just had to see if he would be able to find his sister and I was curious what was going to happen on the way back!

I loved that the king and queen each had their own person to go to when children weren’t happening. And that each of those people made something for them that fitted very well with who they were. A robot from an engineer and a log girl from a witch.

That maid though, LORD, I hope she got fired. Oh my a log coincidentally in the princess her bed. Let me just YEET it out. WTF woman. And why did no one tell her? Oh well, I guess if this hadn’t happened that we would have an adventure.. but still…

I just loved that the brother instantly went on an adventure, a quest. He didn’t even think twice. Oh no. He just followed the trail. Didn’t care how far it would take him. He would find his sister and I was amazed that he went this far. But then comes the way back home and I was getting more and more worried. Because a robot.. well cannot walk like this all the time. And waking up a log and having her become a princess again is a nice idea… but what if the princess gets sleepy? And we also see that both of them have some very interesting (sometimes scary) adventures while going home. SO I was rooting very hard for these two to be able to get home. To make it home safely.

I wouldn’t mind a few more books about the adventures of our Robot and the Princess. We get a small glimpse of them and there are so many that I would love to see turned to full stories!

The ending was just the sweetest. What the animals did. What the witch did. The happiness and joy! It made me smile, I was so happy! I do hope that the parents learned from this. Tell people in the castle about the princess.

The illustrations were wonderful, I just adore Tom Gauld’s style of illustrations. The amount of details! WOW! How beautifully it is all drawn! Be sure to also check the pages before the story.

All in all, I am so happy I found this stunning and beautiful book and that I had the chance to read it. It was certainly a great bedtime story for me. I would recommend it to all.

Cute take on a fairy tale about a log princess and her robot brother and how they overcome adversity and look out for each other. This book gave me warm fuzzies and made me want to cheer for the heroes of the story...the beetles.

Another cute book that my son picked up on his own from library and enjoyed. He made me read it. It was a fun fairy tale-esque story about a log princess and a wooden robot which is her brother. Princess becomes a log when she is asleep and her robot brother wakes her up from sleep. But one day, he forgets to wake her and the serving maid throws the log without realizing that it is the princess. Now her robot brother goes in search of the log princess. Loved it.
