Reading this I felt completely immersed in 1940s New York. Everything aspect felt very fleshed out. The mystery was interesting but my favourite part was Pentecost and Parker. I loved the glimpse we get into their life and relationship. Also, it concluded beautifully. I so look forward to reading the following books in the series

I really enjoyed this mystery and Will as a character! She's witty, fun, and full of life, and being inside her head was so much fun! The only reason I knocked this one down a little – is the pacing felt a bit slow in segments, especially in the beginning.
The representation in this book was really well done, I enjoyed seeing Pentecost live with her disability and how it did not deter nor stop her from being the best detective in her field! The LGBTQ+ rep was also exciting and fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of romantic entanglements Will falls into in the future. The parallels between Pentecost and the "Mastermind" also heavily resembled Sherlock & Moriarty – something my friend & I took great pleasure in! ❤️

A clever read with two female leads and a whodunit plot that keeps you guessing throughout.
