I really enjoyed this book and will be continuing the series. I love the mix of history, mystery, and romance. I have already purchased the second book on audio. Wish I had discovered this series sooner!

This was a fun historical mystery that a bit more fancy than the usual everyday cozy mystery. I loved the authors detailed description when it came to famous works and art that she was introducing to readers throughout the book. I found the main character Emily to be very charming, intelligent and funny and had a ball follow her throughout the story as she solved the mystery.
Lady Emily is under the thumb of her mother until she marries Lord Ashton. She doesn't have too much interest in her husband, she just wants to get away from the expectation of society for an eligible girl in the Victorian era. Then a series of events changes that all and she learns of a world on intrigue in the art community and has to solve her husbands involvement in that world. I liked the fast pace and the tragic elements in the story. The Victorian era and it's customs were interesting and fun to read about.
If the premise alone doesn't have you convinced (Historical London! Potential art theft! Dashing, swoon-worthy suitors!), then read it for the main character, Lady Emily. She is 20% cinnamon role and 80% sass, adding up to 100% wonderful. Seriously, read it for her.
