I honestly think I began writing poetry myself because of this book. Because Rilke's tone is urgent yet comforting and spurred me into action. He's talking about poetry, yes, but a lot of the letters apply to art in general. If you must create, then you must. There's no way to not pour yourself out into whatever your art is. If you make art at all--even just for yourself or for fun--I think this is worth the read.

Absolute snoozefest. I'm sorry but it's how I feel! I found quite literally nothing of value here, although I hope others can at least get something out of this.

I need to buy a physical copy so I can annotate the hell out of it because it made me sob like a baby.

loved reading this!! it's so nice to see how rainer still maintained the relationship with the poet for a long period of time :')
