A comforting, found-family, character-driven novel with wonderful nature descriptions. Perfect to read around Christmas time and during cold winter days.

Takes a long time to get everyone's character and story established, but admittedly worth it; a light cozy winter listen for sure. A slow-paced but cute story, generally cheerful and friendly, learning about each character from their perspective and how they all come together in both expected and unexpected ways.

What a delight! Found family story with characters of different generations, set  mostly in Scotland. I lived every minute of the narration.

A cozy calm winter read, great for background while doing other things. Only problem is it makes me want to bustle around in the snow shopping for xmas gifts and hosting parties when I'm stuck at work. The end was fine and covered all the thematic bases, but I wanted one more chapter of festivities, which I was surprised by given how long and slow the rest of the book was.

Not sure what's going on w the accent in the audiobook; don't remember having any opinions about the narrator when she read Dracula but the accent in this book is inconsistent and ends of words tend to drop away. And despite Sam being noted to have an American accent by other characters, he sounds just like the rest of them. The Scottish ones were fun to listen to though.
