One for the Money is a delicious, steamy romance with a surprising amount of depth and nuance that is really refreshing.

One of the few third act conflicts that is both necessary and inevitable. (Does it count as third-act conflict in book one of a trilogy?) Too often I get frustrated with authors for throwing in arbitrary conflicts just to create drama, but in this case Finn and Eva’s story wouldn’t make sense without it.

This is such a unique (to me) example of a billionaire romance, with both of them being wealthy and financial disparity not being the conflict in their relationship. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a romance dealing with a parent with dementia, and certainly not one where the character is worried about inheriting it.

I absolutely love Finn as an MMC. He’s the perfect blend of fun and serious. I loved the writing here.

I just wish there weren’t quite so many time jumps. Too often a chapter would end mid-scene and suddenly it would be days later. I hate hearing about these cute dates they went on off-page, I wanted to see them! But I’m totally invested and will be picking up book 2 immediately.

This started off ok, but it was just sort of cringey and I didn’t really see much chemistry between the 2 mc’s. They were also both billionaires and I have very little sympathy for the problems of billionaires.

Quick, easy read.

Books like this aren't really my style. There's nothing wrong with it particularly, but it also doesn't have anything special going for it. I don't mind a billionaire romance (pure fantasy, I can ignore the implications) and I love a fake relationship. But yeah, nothing extra happening here.
