I was hooked from the beginning! I thought the premise was super intriguing. The writing and the characters were interesting. The audio narration was great! But the ending fell a little bit flat for me. It was slightly predictable, but I still enjoyed it a lot! Solid 3 stars.

This is my second book by Jessa Maxwell. I’ve enjoyed both. 

I liked the pacing of the book and the rate that information is given to the reader. 

I found Alex interesting and was rooting for her throughout the book.

An okay book, nothing mind-blowing.
The transitions between letters and current events was a nice way to glimpse into the main character's past. It bothered me how naive the main character was in the end. First, being clueless about an abusive relationship and next, going to investigate the murser victim's summer house. How about calling the police? Another infuriating turn was the obnoxious little sister who was beyond clueless and whiny. I almost dnfed at that point.

Mystery (not a thriller!!!!)

This was quite the unique premise for a mystery novel! A famous newspaper advice column looses their beloved writer. More like she was murdered... by who? We don't know. They never found who did it. So, Alex Marks decides to take a chance and apply for the position. Maybe it will be the fresh start she needs...

Cool idea right? But somehow this kinda all felt flat. It was all just fine. Alex as a main character was giving not much and I wanted more from her as a main character. I wish the author had dived in a bit more under the plot instead of keeping it surface level. I did do some of this on audio and highly recommend! It was done very well and entertaining.
