I listened to this as an audiobook so perhaps that’s why I didn’t really enjoy it.
The plot was so ridiculously & obviously predictable that when the “twist” happened I was slightly shocked that I was right.
Two POV of the book: Alex, a sad “woe is me” type who doesn’t really leave her NYC apartment. One night, she randomly applies to be an advice columnist for a well known newspaper. Her favorite columnist (who she has been reading & obsessed with forever) dies mysteriously at her beach house, so the role is open.
Alex gets the job & goes through the motions; getting breakfast at a local diner, first day nerves, staying late to read all the letters. She finds weird things leftover in the office from the old columnist, and thinks it might be clues as to who killed her.
Her new boss is a little sketchy and her new assistant is jumpy & straight-up weird.
Second POV is someone writing a series of letters to the columnist “Dear Constance” in the past tense. She starts off about how much she loves her new boyfriend, but no one thinks he’s right for her. The letters progress into describing a growingly abusive relationship & begs for advice on how to leave/ what to do.
The end is so bad. It took me months to finish listening because it was just so predictable; but I was really invested in the story so I finally eventually finished.

this book is okay. interesting enough to finish but I probably wouldn’t read it again. also, they could never make me like howard.
This is only getting a two because the last three chapters had SOME content and resolution. Sorry. You don’t need to read this.

It was ok. The plot was predictable. It definitely sounded more interesting than it was.
