I still don't understand why the main character felt she needed to go through eight months worth of work in less than a week.
Moderate: Domestic abuse
I don't like it when an author sets things up to be oh so mysterious when it is so obvious (to me) what they are trying to hide.
I Need You To Read This is a great mystery thriller, a palate cleanser from the darker books I have been reading recently. It has just enough twists to keep you invested in the story, to keep you guessing how the story will progress.
When The Herald's advice columnist, Francis Keen, is murdered the paper advertises for her replacement, and our main character Alex jumps at the chance to take her hero's place. However, with the unsolved murder of Francis and Alex's own mysterious past, taking on such a public role may be cause for concern...
Alex, along with her friends, begin to investigate and find out what really happened to Francis, but soon secrets from Alex's past threatening to rear their ugly heads.
I really enjoyed the newspaper office setting and the advice columnist career. The addition of letters sent to the columnist for advice sprinkled in was a nice touch and provided depth to the book.
With a sense of dread throughout, it really added to the suspense and atmosphere of the story. Full of complex characters and twists and turns, this was a book that I found hard to put down.

Thank you to Netgallery for giving me an early release copy of I Need You to Read This by Jesse Maxwell, this book will be available for purchase on August thirteenth of 2024.
I Need You to Read This has a very interesting start, the prologue had my attention from the start, it was an amazing start, I loved Jessa Maxwells writing style, it was simple and read smoothly, I liked our characters they weren’t overly complex and were written well,I loved the banter between Raymond, Janice, and Alex it gave a found family vibe. The story around the advice column is intriguing, the letters included and responses given felt real, it really makes you feel for the characters.
It really turned for me in the end though, I didn’t like the direction of where it went with “lost girl” however I would still recommend this book, it was a enjoyable read, I’d recommend I Need You to Read this to those who also enjoy Fredia McFadden.
