First and foremost thank you so much NetGalley for allowing jtbtonreadvthid book in advance in exchange for an honest review!
Ok first of all I really appreciate noted this book! I gave it a 3.75 stars! This book follows our main character Alex! She is you through it! She is trying to get her life together but is also running from something. She finds out that her favorite columnist Dear Constance has been murdered and is completely distraught! One night she gets drunk and decides to apply to be the new editor seat Constance. When she goes in for the interview she is shocked to realize she gets the job! She’s excited and also anxious for her new role! Shortly after getting the job she starts to get letters.. threats from someone who is desperate to dig up her past and expose her.. Alex decides to do some digging of her own into Dear Constance’s murder. Ate the new letters and Constance’s murder connected? This book truly has everything murder, mystery, thrills and plot twists! I wasn’t expecting anything less from Jessa Maxwell!

bruh my audiobook hours ran out so then i didn’t bother because it was lowkey so mid so anticlimactic and just underwhelming i remember thinking oooh okok we have our first potential suspect and then i see how much of the book i’ve read: 80%. one suspect (who i thought would be a red herring) but turns out to be the bloody murderer.

piss poor.

slow-paced

I really enjoyed this thriller! This book was entertaining and fun. It was slow at places, though. I don't know if the author intended you to guess the first big "twist" if it really was a twist, but I picked up what she was putting down in that instance right away. The ending was twisty, and it was wrapped up in a nice bow, and I liked it.

Alex Marks is living a pretty lonely life in NYC. It is revealed she is lonely on purpose, though. She's running from her past. When Alex sees a  job posting to be the new advice columnist for a well-regarded newspaper, she is curious. After all, "Dear Constance" is a column she loved and read for years up until the author's shocking murder a year ago. What kind of questions are they asking to replace the beloved columnist? Alex applies on a whim, and she actually gets hired. Not too long after starting, it becomes clear the advice columnist job may just come with the un benefit of murder. Alex is determined not to be next, so she sets out to find out who killed the original columnist, Frances.

This is one of the better thrillers I've read this year. I definitely will recommend it.
