Reviews with content warning for Pedophilia - Like a good girl – Denn sie wissen, was du getan hast

Oh, how I wanted to love this more than I did! While I admire its intention, I thought it was poorly executed, hindered by jarring switches in perspective and stereotypical characters. It reads so much like a Riverdale or Pretty Little Liars season that I have to wonder if it'd be better suited to television. A bummer!

I feel very conflicted about how to rate this. First of all, there were certain things that I found confusing and messy, but I listened to the story on audiobook, so I don't know if that problem had existed if I'd read it physically. And secondly, it was just a very hard book? The topic of the story was a lot darker than I expected and went almost nauseatingly into more detail than I thought it would.

But I did like the story for the most part! I especially adored Claude, she was amazing. And there were some important messages in the book, especially about girls' sexuality and about how victims of sexual assault weren't believed. And two of the main girls were bisexual and lesbian respectively. (The only bad part about that? The bisexual girl played into the trope of bisexuals being cheaters, though the author also criticised many biphobic actions.)

That’s the thing about being dead. You no longer get to say what happens next.

It's not every day I stayed until 2 am to finish a book. This book wouldn't let me go once I started. Usually, I turn to spoiler just to have a good night's sleep and continue reading it the next day. But for some reason, I couldn't, not for this book, I need to see everything myself.

The book left me feeling hollow in the middle of the night. I want to hug the characters and tell them that they did great and what happened to them is not their fault. They don't deserve to be treated like that.

I could give this book a 5 star, but some scenes are left vague; I personally need a clear explanation to make a conclusion.
