It is a great concept and interesting premise. The way mythology is woven into the story is brilliant.
But apart from that the story doesn't do much. The writing is simple to say the least. It let down the potential of the story. The dialogue is jarring to the story. The plot is dicey at moments and the ending is just...

A historical fiction set against the backdrop of ancient tribal wars in the pre-Vedic period, The Immortals of Meluha is a captivating tale of a man 'whom legend turned into a GOD'.
1900BC was the period of Mature Indus Valley Civilisation and is identified with the Suryavanshi kingdom of Meluha - a perfect empire created by Lord Ram many centuries ago.The tribal rulers and the smaller and weaker kingdoms of the far east in the subcontinent can be identified with the kingdom of Chandravanshis who, according to proud Suryavanshis, have a despicable quality of moral conduct and way of life.
Unable to understand each other's way of life and facing existential threats when their primary river was dying, relation strained and mistrust and disbelief grew. Each considered the other as evil.
However, both were bound by a common belief - the Legend of Neelkanth who will emerge as a hero on their side to fight their evil.
And the legend came to true and the war broke out.
The story is a journey of self-realization and discovery of truth and evil for the man whose deed would turn him into a legend and GOD by history.
This book is a great fusion of Indian history and mythology with excellent story telling.
An easy and captivating read and looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I was SO hyped for this book and maybe that's the reason why I'm disappointed.
For starters, this book take such a long time to actually reach to the interesting part, that I had to push myself to finish this one.
Secondly, the writing. The words used in this book doesn't feel like they're from 1000 BC and that takes a lot away from the book.
Also,the dialogues were weak.
I had guessed the plot very early into the book and was not surprised.
I am hyped for the sequel though.

This is an amazing book. It will make you fall in love with shiva. In this book, god shiva is shown as an ordinary man. But it is truly a page-turner and recommend everyone to read.
I usually don't prefer books which tell a lot about ancient mythology but this was an exception and I have read the complete series. Rather than glorifying all the things done by gods(as in Hindu mythology), here Amish presented lord shiva as a mere human who is prone to do everything a normal human does (both sins and good deads). All you need to do is just flip the first page and then you will be in.
The story is the depiction of the grey area that all we humans disregard to see in everything around us.

good book ,says that we all r god but we just need to recognize it & fight against evil , as wat mahadeva (god of gods )done.just it saying siva is a human but recognized as god of gods due to his karma (duty) . book was nicely going through suspense .
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
My review: 2.5 stars
The story was a little lacking and dull; it didn't help that I got the names confused very easily. However, I liked how they encorperated morales into this story.
I felt like it ended a little abruptly, on a cliffhanger, but maybe that was the author's choice. The writing was of good enough quality, but it just wasn't my style.
I probably wouldn't recommend this book, and won't be reading any more in this series. However, that could just be my preferences, so feel free to give this new book a go!
