Interesting content, but drearily pedantic. A chore to read.
A good way to understand what the Shiva Trilogy is about is to compare it to the concept of Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan.
The author, Amish Tripathi weaves bits and pieces of Hindu mythology into a fictional narrative. It’s important to note THIS IS NOT REAL HINDU MYTHOLOGY. In this series, the author imagines a major deity of the Hindu faith, Shiva as a regular man who has stepped into the role of a God.
The actual first installment of the series, The Immortals of Meluha, was a fairly entertaining and interesting read. The beginning of the book is a little slow but after the third chapter, things really start to pick up. The pace seems to ebb and flow at the perfect rate. I am excited to read the next two books to see where the story is headed.
While definitely an enjoyable take on classic Hindu mythology, I found that the dialogue and the language in the book was fairly mundane. Even though it described some complicated, adult issues, I felt as if I was reading a child’s book. This was further enhanced by many things in the plot that happened almost too conveniently. These two elements left a little more to be desired in the story telling at times.
Overall however, it was an interesting and entertaining read. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in an introduction to Hindu mythology and looking for a good story!

This was a book which I kept back to the shelf 2 years back when one of my friends told me this is difficult to read. And bought the book after 2 years and started reading. It was a whole new experience. The picturization is beyond words. I was happy that I started reading once I got all 3 books in series. It would have been a painful waiting otherwise. We feel so anxious to read what is going to happen next. The interpretation of mythology is great.
Absolute page turner , I just finished reading it and I'm going to start the next one now itself. The only issues I have is the facts are to modern for my liking, for example, them knowing about oxygen or oxidants. Also, I don't know why or how Ram is assumed to reign before shiva because I'm not sure but it happened the other way round... But I don't think there would be much to the story if this wouldn't have been the case. So, simply put.. Loved it :)
A great book with a different outlook at Indian mythology. I first saw this book grandly stacked on shelves of a multitude of famous book stores. I resisted the temptation for a while for reasons unknown. The book definitely is worth a read. A few parts here and there are predictable but the author has tried to effectively maintain the element of attention as he progresses through this wonderful piece of work.
