This was such a disappointment. Not sure how it made the NYT best seller list. Maybe people brought it as a coffee table book? overall, I'd say don't even bother wasting your time. I get that the tone was serious as to be facetious, but it was so thorough in details that it became a monotonous read. However, when the apocalypse comes and we are overrun with zombies, I will surely pick this up from my coffee table to study/prepare as the research that went into it was pretty impressive.

why was i so obsessed with zombies in 2011

After reading World War Z, it only made sense to read the Zombie Survival Guide. I now feel prepared to protect myself from zombies I guess. I do not feel any more prepared to protect myself from COVID-19.

Although the genre is humor, there is a lot of valuable information here for severe situations, including how to be prepared and on the move should the proverbial shit hit the fan.

My review can be found here: http://obsessivebookworm.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/zombies-ack/

I'm a sucker for all things zombie and this is a graphic novel you can burn through in about a half hour. Enjoyable quick, short stories compiled with Ibraim Roberson's occasionally gruesome art made this a worthwhile read.

This book was completely entertaining and also got me thinking...he might be on to something. I am totally unprepared for this type of end of world scenario and really need to get into gear. Fortunately I have already made the first step - acknowledging the possibility. The author has some good points and I am honestly a little freaked out...

The concept (and genre) is placed in the satire section, but the author takes such great strides to write this book devoid of any real humor. I'm impressed by the amount of work it must have taken to create all the details and "historical notes" though the sections on weapons and preparedness are clearly the most interesting. I found myself zoning out through the bits about explaining the virus (then again I'm not really a zombie stickler, I don't mind "fake zombies" of the 28 Days Later kind) and the incident reports... save one amazing story about an awesome Native American zombie slayer.

It worked well for what I used it for, which was a book to pull out of my purse when I was bored, or reading at the gym without worrying about losing my place/forgetting details, but other than that it wasn't all that interesting. The writing style is dry, there's no real warmth or humor to it (it's not really a parody), but there's a few interesting bits and there's a certain amount of respect for how much research and thought went into such a book.

This is the companion piece to "World War Z". Well, it was written first, but you know what I mean. This is the standard handbook guide to surviving a zombie apocalypse -- a subject near and dear to my heart, and other organs. It's good instructions, with a lot of stuff that's useful for any apocalypse scenario. I really need to pick this up and keep it in storage, just in case I end up being the omega man.

But as far as entertainment, it's a bit dry and there's more information than you need. The bookstores categorize this in the humor section. I don't see what's humorous about a zombie invasion. It's a serious book. It's a handbook, meant for reference.

This is a good book, but more for big Zombie or apocalypse fans.
