There seems to be some disagreement as to whether this is a humor or a horror book. It was marketed as the former, but I actually think it’s more effective as the latter. If it’s a humor book, it’s strictly one-note—survival guides expect you to be ridiculously over-prepared, haha! As a horror book—even keeping in mind its goofier moments—it really gets under your skin, makes you reassess your surroundings and your safety in ways, I think, few monster stories do.
It’s also interesting to look at this book as Brooks’ warm-up exercise for [b:World War Z|8908|World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War|Max Brooks|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1165766703s/8908.jpg|817]: he’s laying out the rules of his universe here, getting a feel for it. But this book, like I said, doesn’t quite know what it wants to be. World War Z knows. And when it tells you, you don’t forget.

These stories are lifted directly out of the back of the original [b:Zombie Survival Guide|8908|World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War|Max Brooks|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1165766703s/8908.jpg|817], so don’t expect any new material here. However, they’re extremely fun in graphic novel form, and if it’s been a while since you read Brooks’ first zombie book, as it has for me, I think you’ll still find these a treat.
Perhaps the most informative book I've ever read that kept my interest and made me feel like I could be safe when the Zombies rise.
This book is probably the most intersting and informative book I've read.
I know that it is considered a work of fiction and everything, but the way it is written and handled, it makes you feel like a zombie attack is just around the corner. A wonderful read for anyone interested in zombies or anything relating to the undead.
I loved it.

Loved it! I laughed out loud several times. The illustrations and the detailed history of zombie attacks (going back to 60,000 BC) were my favorites parts. I think it's hilarious that this book is shelved in nonfiction.
