Yes! I’m mastering the zombie language! If you don’t know what that means you’re in deep sh*t. You might want to get some books and start learning a few things..
Every person on the planet should own this book; you can never know when the next attack is going to be.
To do list:
• buy a machete
• buy an M1 Carbine
• buy leather suit
• cut hair short
• buy supplies
• buy a dirtbike or horse, whichever is available
• create a voodoo zombie
• become a professional zombie hunter

Here are some personal results from my research.

Stay safe! And in case you turn into a zombie stay out of my way or eat lead!

This is an excellent (fantasy) guide for how to handle the undead in many different scenarios. A lot of the stuff Max included are of practical use and this book serves as a good beginner's tool for preparing for a zombie apocalypse. Yes, the book can be silly sometimes, but it shouldn't be taken seriously. If you suspend your disbelief, you'll enjoy the book much more. I particularly enjoy the "recorded attacks" portion of the book and appreciate that Max can write terrifying zombie stories without having to rely on gore.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone interested in zombies and end-of-the-world type scenarios.

If you're really into zombies it's an encyclopedia, if you're normal it's ... a little too much.
This book taught me that no matter how enthusiastic I may be about surviving hoards of zombies, I'm pretty likely to fail. So I either have to go completely off the deep end now and start preparing like people did for Y2K or just hope I'll never have to try to survive any sort of disaster.
But hey, if you want to go completely off the deep end and you have the resources ($$$) by all means, follow the advice in this book to the letter.

Okay. Can we please get a zombie disease that is actually thought through and based in biological facts? I agree with other comments that it was sometimes boring and sometimes snarky, I think that was part of the humor and satire of the book, but I was out of it as soon as the author was describing the physiology of zombies.
stories were a bit hit and miss but i enjoyed them. very gruesome!
By God, but this book is exactly what it says on the tin. If you would like to know how to survive a zombie apocalypse, look no further. In terms of pure enjoyment, I found this to be very dry at times, but taking into consideration that Max Brooks did NOT intend this to be humorous book (the classification in the humor section was a publishing choice in which he had no say), I cannot in good conscience rate it on that alone. It is very informative and well-thought-out.
