Perfect by Autumn Jordan
Darcy Witherspoon has just watched her restaurant burn and now there was nothing left to do.
Dylan Kincaid is watching his two nieces as their parents are off fighting the war overseas. He has to pull off Christmas for two girls and has no idea what their interests are. He is a VT maple tree farmer.
Knowing the general area this is going to be a great book. Love reading about the area and most particularly trees as my relatives were nurserymen. Love all the jobs he has and learning about them all.
They met at Tom's restaurant, the old grist mill and she had just driven up from SC and would be staying there getting things settled after the fire. Loved hearing about the history of the grist mill and all the detailed descriptions of the rooms and outside area.
Tom will work his skill with matchmaking them together and hopefully keep her there longterm because they'd be perfect for one another.
Dylan and Darcy come to an agreement, she will help him decorate and bake and cook dinner and he will teach her to ski.
They take things slow but each are on the others mind.
Problem: his parents show up to help out with the girls...
Tom and the grist mill restaurant have a new dream now, maybe she can have a new dream also....
Just when things are sexually heating up and you think nothing else bad can happen, it does...
Awesome book for this time of year, just the right touch of things I look forward to in a book. Baking, travel=locale, nature with a bit of romance/sex.

Unfortunately Perfect was not a perfect story. Everything was very simplistic and whenever there was a slight issue it was easily resolved right away. Dylan thinks Darcy is Tom's girlfriend? Well that misunderstanding gets fixed like right away (though like the next day Dylan is talking to Darcy and says how Tom is marrying someone else so...why did he think Darcy was his girlfriend if he knew he was seeing someone else? Or did the two talk sometime between when he dropped her off the one night and early the next morning when he picked her up again? It didn't make sense). It was all just too easy.

The other issue? I didn't feel like I really got to know either main character. They had instant super attraction sure, but I never saw more than that. I am a believer in love at first sight, but this didn't seem like that. Also everything just instantly worked out for them after like two days. It was just....not realistic or not unrealistic in a good romance kind of way.

Overall the story was too simple and everything worked out too easily. There was little character development and nothing really seemed to happen the entire time, even though a few things did.

This book was annoying on multiple levels. The editing was terrible and I don't think anyone checked it for continuity.

It was confusing that the two main characters Darcy and Dylan both thought each other were in a relationship. Dylan thought Darcy was in a relationship with her friend Tom... But then you find out tom is proposing to his girlfriend and Dylan knows about it... It makes absolutely no sense.

One of the first scenes they are drinking whiskey in a bar, then suddenly it's coffee? The attention to detail was subpar.

I'm shocked I made it through, there was so little plot line and almost no payoff in the end. Far too cutesy as well.

ok..easy read. too much romance language for my liking. also a bit poorly constructed as far as the story is concerned. but somewhat entertaining. I probably wouldn't recommend it...

Received a free copy of this via the Goodreads First Reads program. Thank you!

While a quick read, you need to suspend reality with this story. Plus, there are some plot holes and continuity issues that made the overall experience disjointed.

If you're looking for a quick and light hearted Christmas story, this should appeal to you.
