it took a few chapters to reel me in, but it got me and then I couldn't put it down. it's for 10 and up, pretty gorey in some descriptions, but you can't expect less from a retelling of Grimm's now can you? looking forward to the next book.

Once upon a time, I was a huge fan of The Brothers Grimm.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The premise is just, Hansel & Gretel walking through other Grimm fairy tales. The references to The Brothers Grimm are very in the nose and prominent.

Adam Gidwitz did a great job in weaving different Grimm fairy tales into an equally dark story.

This was a fun read. it has an interesting spin on the hansel and gretel fairy tale...or lack there of :) The narrator was more like comic relief than narrator.
