It was...fine.

The title is misleading, as the setting (a remote haunted house in the valleys of Mexico) doesn't really have any impact on the story. This could have been English Gothic, or Japanese Gothic, or Venezuelan Gothic, and it wouldn't have really changed the story at all.

The actual writing is very good (except there was one line that went "she literally dragged him up the stairs" and the use of "literally" was jarring and out-of-place.)

I don't know, it was just an okay story. it took a long time to reveal what was actually going on, and I was quite underwhelmed by the "twist." The characters didn't seem rational or believable, including the protagonist.  Maybe Gothic Horror just isn't for me.

This book was so unhinged and had me screaming at every page, but I still loved every second of this wild ride. Super creepy and oddly romantic, this book was atmospheric and mysterious in the best ways and a great spooky autumn read. (But on a real note, I actually can’t get over how insane this book was

This book is so weird. I love the strength of the lead in such darkness. It’s all in the blood ✨

Delusione. Enorme.
