I don't know what I should spend time questioning more: The mother, Peter's entire story, or the fact that the jacket and shoes weren't just for show and were actually used as a scarecrow.
I enjoyed this one a lot more than I was expecting to, and so did my little boy. He gasped as he saw Peter sneaking into Mr. McGregor's garden, and looked at me with fright: "But, he'll be made into pie!?" A simple little story, full of action and delight, the pictures so lovely, and just the right length for bedtime reading.

Like many children, I loved these books when I was young. In honor of Easter, Audible offered this title for free and I took advantage. It was great to listen as an adult to a book I loved so much as a kid.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a lesson for young, adventurous, and naughty boys who disregard the orders of their mothers. The book is indeed a moral, the moral being that if you misbehave, you will be indirectly punished.
I liked Peter Rabbit though, because he reminds me of most adventure seeking boys at that age. It was exciting seeing him dodge Mr. Mcgregor, and maneuver himself through the farmer's garden.
Although this book seems aged for young boys, I do wish that I had read this book when I was a kid. It seems like something I would have liked to have read, growing up with brothers myself.

I loved this little book. The story is great, the characters are cute and the art is amazingly beautiful
Peter, your DAD was cooked into a PIE by the guy in that garden, why are you going in there?! This is usually how horror movies begin, but this story is just quaint and charming, with lovely illustrations.
