This book reminded me of the movie The Holiday, only with teenagers. It felt awfully unlikely the events of this novel would ever happen in real life (where were the parents? how could a countries swap by teenage girls - who were strangers - ever be a thing?)…but that’s what I liked most about it!! The jokes were fun, the cheesy references were aplenty, and I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas switcheroo with Elle & Holly.

Picked this book up at the bookstore. The back read like any normal chick lit fiction book, so I was bummed when I later realized it was written for 14 year olds(teens & high school not mentioned on back of book). I must have snagged it from a teen table and not realized.

Tried to give it a go but the social network, follower bullshit stuff that now permeates high schools and teens is not my idea of an interesting plot point.

Will be donating to the library for actual teens to enjoy.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Blame It on the Mistletoe seemed like it was going to be a cute romcom. I was pretty excited to jump into it since Christmas is basically just around the corner. Unfortunately, I just didn't connect to anyone or the story. Which, yes, is a bit disappointing since I hyped myself up for it.

In it, you will meet Elle and Holly. One moves all the time and is trying to rekindle her relationship with Scrooge. Oh, I mean her brother Nick. The other loves all things Christmas and writes pretty fantastic Christmas cards. Both have problems they deal with daily, and they need a break. Stat!

Now I'll admit that I did get the Holiday vibes, but I definitely liked the movie a lot more than this. I just feel like things were overdone or overdramatic at times. Even though things moved at a fast pace, I still found myself being bored with what was going on.

In the end, I just wish that I liked this a lot more than I originally did.

This book was read thanks to NetGalley.

This is a story that I recommend to teens because is really lighthearted, it gives you the Christmas spirit, you are given two love stories and two different personal journeys to happiness, i recommend this book for those who enjoy teen stories and light romance. .

2.3 it was way to long. It was so confusing going back and forth I didn't really know what was happening it was all over the place I wanted to DNF so many times but I pushed thorough. It just wasn't that great

Although I gave this three stars, I did enjoy this book, but it didn’t really hook me. The prime reason I liked this book is because it has some very important lessons throughout.

Blame it on the Misteltoe highlights the downside of social media. It captures the feeling people have today that you have to maintain this image you think people want to see instead of being yourself. Both Elle and Holly need external validation, but in different ways: Elle by gaining followers and attributing that to her worth and Holly feeling the need to prove to others that she’s fun and spontaneous.

I’ve even been guilty of these feelings Elle and Holly have had and as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized I need to embrace who I am just like Holly and Elle have done. Straight from the @twotonedpodcast the people who care don’t matter, and the people who matter don’t care. This really resonated with me. Embrace the people who love who you are down to your core ❤️

Think: a fun take on the movie, 'The Holiday'. A cute holiday rom-com about two very different girls who swap lives for a Christmas filled with lots of unexpected surprises -- including romance! Fun, easy and cute. A great holiday read.

If you're looking for a sweet, Christmas-y romcom, this could be the one.

There are a lot of characters to keep straight, and you're just dropped into the story with no explanation, but if you can hold on to get past that and into the story proper, you'll find a sweet story about finding things you didn't think you could find and the joy of letting go and going with the flow. (Although there's nothing wrong with a good plan!) If you read a lot of romcoms, there's not much here to surprise you, but that's not a bad thing; I really enjoyed reading this, and there's a lovely cosy feeling that evokes the very best of Christmas.

Holly's insistence on everyone loving Christmas did get a little grating, but I could mostly ignore that. It has some good things to say about social media, too, and I really appreciated those parts of the story. Social Media does have good parts, and they're often overlooked when people complain about the bad parts, so it's nice to see both sides.

I really enjoyed this, it's one I'll break out around this time of year again, and I heartily recommend it.
