I wanted something light and funny, and that is what I got from 84, Charing Cross Road. It reminded me a lot of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which I loved, and made me want to read obscure books that I hadn't heard anything about before. The edition I have also contains The Duchess of Bloomsbury, but I didn't feel like reading it at the moment. I read the first few pages... And felt like it would just spoil the pleasure I had in reading the correspondance part—which, in my opinion, was self-sufficient.

I wish this book was longer! I love how Hanff writes

This is a book of letters between Helene Hanff, a TV script writer in the U.S., and a used book seller in London. The wrote to each other for more than 20 years in the period after WWI and it's interesting to see how they formed a relationship by post and how life was like during the post-war period. It's a short book and a light read. I enjoyed it.
